Playing calls to birds does affect them more than you might imagine. They think they have a rival intruding in their territory and use up a lot of energy and time in defence, counter singing, and it’s probably highly stressful for them.

Lately I have captured images of one that looks like a Cape May Warbler. Warblers are so awesome! I love capturing videos that include the Warbler songs! Last year I bought an app that allows me to sit outside and play the bird songs to compare with the real thing, it messes with the birds, but I don’t think it will harm them to have a little vocal competition.
