Many rare and endangered birds are hit by the turbines each year and killed. One report I saw showed a selection of birds from the tiny to large owls that had been killed by one turbine alone. We need to find a way to make the turbines safer as well. Perhaps painting the fan blades in stripes? Using UV or other designs on them? Making sure they aren’t in known migratory routes? There have to be ways. I wonder how many million birds each year are killed by the turbines.
